A recent article by Vogue magazine reveals some of First Lady Jenny Sanford’s thoughts about her husband’s extramarital affair.

First Lady Jenny Sanford told ABC News back in June, she was determined to stop her husband’s affair with Argentine woman Maria Chapur.

“I’ve done everything in my power possibly to keep him from going to see her,” says Sanford.

Greenville business executive guilty of fraud

A former executive with a Greenville-based company has pleaded guilty to fraudulently withdrawing nearly $1 million from a bank so he could make payroll.

Jason Watson, 53 years old,  pleaded guilty Monday in federal court to fraud. Prosecutors say Watson’s illegal withdrawal led Condustrial, Inc. into chapter 11 bankruptcy. Condustrial Inc. provides skilled workers, like electricians, for temporary jobs. Watson stated in court that he didn’t keep any of the $771,000 and that he had hoped that the economy would improve in time for the withdrawal to go undetected. He said other executives with the company didn’t know of his fraudulent act to make payroll.

Condustrial, Inc operates in South and North Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio, Maryland and the District of Columbia.

SAFB becomes new 3rd Army headquarters

The groundbreaking for the new Army Central Command, ARCENT, headquarters at Shaw Air Force Base took place in Sumter Monday. Third Army Major Amanda Azubuike says both Fort McPherson and Fort Gillam of Georgia will move to Shaw Air Force Base.

“Third Army is really excited about this opportunity to join the outstanding working partnership between Shaw Air Force Base and the city and county of Sumter, South Carolina. Everyone here on the transition team has had such a positive experience, we really couldn’t ask for a better working relationship. So, 3rd Army looks forward to a productive future, and we’re really looking forward to the months ahead,” says Azubuike.

The 2003 Realignment and Closure Commission required the Army to have the new headquarters in operation by 2011. Shaw Air Force Base says soldiers will arrive with their families to Shaw next summer, bringing in an additional estimated 3,400 people. Shaw is already the headquarters for the Air Force. Chief Robert Sexton with the United States Air Force says the move is a beneficial one for both the Army and the Air Force because the two already work together in the Middle East. [Read more...]
