Directors of state leadership programs are gathering today in Charleston to talk about the issues concerning most Americans right now. Those issues include: unemployment, the economy and workforce training.
According to the Associated Press, the state directors will meet this year in South Carolina for the first time ever. About a dozen states are expected to be represented at the meeting, including California and Michigan. Leadership programs usually develop and identify emerging state leaders.
South Carolina’s leadership program is called Leadership South Carolina and is supported by the Clemson Institute for Economic and Community Development. In the program, about 55 people are selected through a competitive process to participate. They then go through specific learning and leadership techniques to see how they interact with others in a business community.
