Forbes Magazine has ranked Charleston among the “Top 10 Smartest Cities in the World.” Charleston Mayor Joe Riley says Charleston’s top 10 “smartest” ranking by Forbes Magazine gives the city a chance to look toward the economic future.
Riley told a crowd of citizens and local leaders Tuesday some highlights of Charleston’s greatest strengths. He listed some achievements including Boeing’s new 787 jetliner assembly line, the signed deal with the Port of Charleston’s largest shipper, Maersk, and the city received one of the top destination rankings in national travel publications.
The mayor’s office released a statement saying “the latest announcement is that Forbes Magazine, the premier business publication, defined smart cities by looking at infrastructure, livability and economic fundamentals. Forbes cited Charleston for its port and manufacturing base while preserving its lovely historic core.”
