Man charged with threatening to kill SC senator

A former Columbia man, now living in Texas, has been indicted for threatening to kill S.C. Senator Darrell Jackson.  Dalton Lee MacKenzee has been taken into custody in Texas and will be brought to South Carolina to face the charge in federal court.

Officials say that MacKenzee made a threatening phone call saying he was going to use a bomb to kill Jackson at the S.C. State House.  The indictment alleges that MacKenzee made the phone call on or about March 13, 20-10.  The maximum penalty MacKenzee could receive is a fine of $250,000 and five years in prison.

Jackson, a Democrat, represents portions of Lower Richland County.
