Boeing selected North Charleston last year for its $750 million plant. It will be the biggest industrial investment in the state’s history, expected to create 3,800 jobs. The company announced last week that it plans to also construct a facility in the same area to make interior parts for the 787. Cavazzoni says there may even be potential for additional expansion.
Cavazzoni says all of the Boeing employees who have so far moved from the state of Washington really like the change.

Prior to taking his new post Cavazzoni was vice president of technical services for Boeing’s commercial aviation services division.
Cavazzoni spoke at the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business in conjunction with the university’s Carolina Alumni Weekend. The event also included a panel discussion featuring female alumni who have succeeded in male-dominated industries.

We forget that this is about children. We forget that every individual, from the Supreme Court to the president, to our lawyers and doctors to our firemen, to our armed services–they’ve all had teachers. [Read more...]
