‘Take a Stand in the Sand’ coming to Folly, Myrtle

Summer is here, meaning more and more people will head to South Carolina’s beaches. In a recent survey by the Barefoot Wine and Surfrider Foundation, a majority of beachgoers give America’s beaches a grade of “C” due to their condition. Musician and “Take a Stand in the Sand” spokesperson Eric Hutchinson says there’s more beachgoers can do to help raise that “C” to an “A.”

The beaches are dirty, and sometimes getting shut down. So, mainly it’s about beach clean-ups and dune restoration. Sanford announces his last vetoes (AUDIO)

Governor Mark Sanford spent primary election night finishing up budget vetoes. There are vetoes on a total of 107 line items and provisos, adding up to $100 million, to help relieve the pain caused by the loss of $1 billion in federal stimulus funds next year. Sanford is also refusing to sign off on an additional $200 million in federal Medicaid dollars and prefers that budget writers set aside $200 million instead.

Sanford said even though he was tempted to veto more of the budget as he has done in the past, he says he was tempered by his advisors and the economy.
