Jenny Sanford: This summer is much better than last summer

Jenny Sanford was smiling and cheerful when we talked to her at the Nikki Haley runoff party. Now the ex-wife to Gov. Mark Sanford, Mrs. Sanford is still active in politics as a key campaigner for GOP gubernatorial candidate Haley.

Congressman Gresham Barrett has conceded the GOP gubernatorial nomination to Nikki Haley.  Michael Brown reports.

Michael Brown reports that Nikki Haley has been declared winner of the GOP runoff over Gresham Barrett.  Haley will face Democrat Vince Sheheen in November.

As the first results roll in from Tuesday’s primary runoff, Michael Brown reports that Nikki Haley, who led with 49 percent of the vote two weeks ago, is leading Gresham Barrett again according to the latest count.

The Republican nominee for governor will face Democrat Vince Sheheen in November.

Polls have closed in South Carolina for the primary election runoff. SCRN will provide audio updates on line every 30 minutes beginning at 8:30, and to radio affiliates statewide carrying election coverage.

Nikki Haley is the front runner is the GOP’s competition for governor against Congressman Gresham Barrett. The winner will face Democrat Vince Sheheen in November.

Florence County Councilman Ken Ard is in the Republican runoff for lieutenant governor against Orangeburg attorney Bill Connor.

Midlands attorneys Leighton Lord and Alan Wilson face off in the GOP nomination for Attorney General. They ran neck-to-neck on June 8th.

In the Republican runoff for education superintendent, retired army general and outgoing Newberry College president Mick Zais takes on Elizabeth Moffly, owner of Moffly Construction and Real Estate, who homeschools two of her children.

GOP Congressional races include the 1st District, where black Republican Tim Scott faces Paul Thurmond, the son of Strom Thurmond who died seven years ago. There hasn’t been a black Republican congressman since Oklahoma’s J.C. Watts retired in 2003.

The Upstate’s 4th Congressional Distrist incumbent Bob Inglis will face Solicitor Trey Gowdy. And South Carolina House member Jeff Duncan faces businessman Richard Cash in the 3rd District race.
