Six people in Lexington County were arrested Wednesday after search warrants were served on several homes after an 8-month undercover operation. Deputies also seized 51 pounds of marijuana that was packaged for distribution and 319 marijuana plants. The total worth of the contraband is about $430,000. Investigators say at each home that was used in the marijuana growing operation, electricity was illegally pulled from power poles to the residences. The stolen electricity was used to power a sophisticated lighting system used to stimulate the growth of the marijuana plants, along with an irrigation system. The homes are located near the towns of Batesburg, Leesville, and Gilbert.
