Spartanburg County Council is closing a deal with Amazon.com to build a facility in Spartanburg county which could mean hundreds of jobs, the council said Monday. Vice Chairman David Britt announced that plans should be completed over the next few days.
“The negotiations are pretty much done,” Britt said, adding the deal has been in the works for a long time under the code name “Project 300.”
He says it the largest project there in over two years. “It’s going to be a lot of jobs and a lot of opportunity when we need it the most,” Britt said.
Reports are that Amazon will open a plant that would employ almost 400 people, an expected $50 million investment by the distributor.
