Dog food recalled due to salmonella concerns

A pet food company is recalling some of its dog food due to salmonella concerns.

Diamond Pet Foods is voluntarily recalling its Diamond Naturals Lamb Meal & Rice dry dog food out of concern that it may be contaminated with salmonella. A statement released by the company Friday said it was not aware of any illnesses and that none of its other products were affected.

The product was distributed by the company in 12 states– including South Carolina.

While pets are obviously at risk, people who handle the food could also become infected with the bacteria. Symptoms of salmonella poisoning include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal cramping.

The company said customers who purchased the following Diamond Naturals Lamb & Rice products should stop feeding it to their pets
