Former Rep. Viers has law license suspended

The South Carolina Supreme Court has suspended the law license of former Myrtle Beach Representative Thad Viers.

Viers resigned from the House on March 21.

The 34-year-old Republican was indicted on charges of sexual harassment and stalking a day later.

The Associated Press reports the order Wednesday also prevents Viers from accessing any of his law office accounts.

Viers’ attorney says his client has not been disbarred and the ruling does not reflect the bar’s position on whether he is guilty.

It’s unclear how Viers will handle the suspension.

The charges stem from complaints made last year from Viers’ ex-girlfriend.

She says Viers repeatedly called, emailed and showed up at her house after they broke up.
