Greenville jury convicts killer who put victim’s body parts on doorsteps

A Greenville County jury has found Clarence Jenkins guilty of kidnapping and murder in the 2008 death of Mekole Harris. Jenkins and his wife, Carman, were accused of killing Harris, then cutting off her hands and feet and leaving them in bags on two doorsteps in Greenville County to send a message to their former roommate.

He was sentenced to life in prison.

Prosecutors say the former roommate did not know the victim, though kidnapping, killing and dismembering Mekole Harris was meant to extort money from the roommate.

In March, Carman Jenkins pleaded guilty to killing Harris, and was sentenced to 50 years in prison. She testified against her husband.

Media reports reveal the gruesome evidence police found when they investigated the couples’ home.
