Deputies have arrested a Lexington County man they say robbed a customer while installing an alarm system.
26-year-old William Platt, an employee with Greenville-based Carolina Security & Wiring, was arrested Friday in connection with a larceny. In a report, Lexington County Sheriffs deputies said Platt and a co-worker were installing an alarm system at a home on February 1. Deputies sayd the homeowner told officers that she observed Platt coming from the master bedroom of the home with his hands in his pocket.
Later that day she discovered two of her necklaces missing from a jewelry box located inside the room. At first, the company owner told the victim that his employees would not steal from anyone and blamed it on the moving crew. The homeowners told the owner they never hired a moving crew.
On April 10, the report says the victim then noticed that four more necklaces were missing from the jewelry box and contacted the company again. The owner told the victim this time that he had received a complaint from another customer where jewelry came up missing. According to the owner, Platt was also assigned to that job.
