A Barnwell City Police Officer was injured after a driver crashed into his patrol car.
The state Highway Patrol says the accident happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, while the officer’s car was parked on State Highway 3 in Barnwell.
Troopers say the officer was standing near his cruiser talking to person who had been walking along the road when an elderly driver crashed into the officer’s car.
The police cruiser was pushed into the officer and the pedestrian. Both were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The officer’s name has not been released.
The elderly driver, 84-year-old Sarah Wallace of Barnwell, was also treated for minor injuries.
Police say they haven’t determined if charges will be filed in the accident.
