Traffic deaths in South Carolina are up slightly this year. The state Department of Public Safety says 10 people were killed on South Carolina roadways over the weekend.
As of Aprill 22, 239 people have died on South Carolina roads. That’s nine more people than were killed at the same point last year. Six of those killed over the weekend were not wearing a seat belt.
Of the 169 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2012, 106 were not wearing a seat belt.
The other road deaths this year include 29 pedestrians, 28 motorcyclists and five bicyclists.
