A Kingstree teen is being held by the state Department of Juvenile Justice after authorities say he threatened to shoot a number of his classmates.
The 16-year-old student, who was not identified due to his age, has been expelled from Williamsburg Academy following his arrest April 30. Kingstree Police say the student had been planning a possible attack on his classmates for several weeks. Investigators say the student texted his plans to some friends and even spoke to them about what he wanted to do.
They also said several of his classmates became concerned about the 16-year-old’s plans. Some of the students said he wanted to shoot everyone he didn’t like in grades 6-12.
The teen was denied bond last Thursday. He is charged with threatening an act of terrorism and will be tried as an adult.
