South Carolina Educational Television has sold two buildings and more than six acres of land to the University of South Carolina.
USC has purchased ETV’s administration building that is next to Williams-Brice Stadium and a second building that included a child care center.
The State newspaper reports the sale, worth $5.275 million, was approved by the State Budget and Control Board Wednesday.
A university consultant says USC will use the new space to house nonessential operations, which will open about 70,000 square feet of space for academic use on the central campus.
It will also allow USC to temporarily house offices that need to move during campus renovations.
An ETV spokesman says its administrative offices will move to its production facility.
ETV will use the money from the sale for renovations.
The occupancy transition will take about six months.
