Tropical Depression Beryl itself caused little damage to the Lowcountry as it moved through the Lowcountry Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
But the storm did spawn a small tornado near the town of Holly Hill.
The National Weather Service experts confirmed that a tornado did touch down in the eastern edge of Orangeburg county around 12:20 Wednesday morning. No injuries were reported but the National Weather Service did say that there is some structural damage in the Holly Hill area.
The twister registered as an EF-1 in strength.
Meanwhile, at least one person died from storm in another part of the county. The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office said 51-year-old Donald Hixon died after a tree fell on his SUV while he was driving on Norway Road around 2 a.m. Wednesday.
