Lexington Solicitor Donnie Myers faces alcohol charge

Eleventh Circuit Solicitor Donnie Myers faces alcohol charges in court next week after being stopped by the State Highway Patrol.

WIS-TV obtained the dashcam video of the May 25 traffic stop in which the trooper says Prosecutor Myers was driving down the middle of the road near where he lives in Lexington County.

Myers told the trooper he swerved because he was listening to a USC baseball game. He said he had ”a few drinks.”

Myers had a cup of scotch in the car, according to what he said on video, but said could not perform certain field sobriety tests because of having had back and shoulder surgeries. He passed an eye movement sobriety test.

Solicitor Myers was charged with having an open container of alcohol inside his car and his court date is June 14.

In May 2005, Myers pleaded guilty to a DUI charge in North Carolina and was given probation.
