Chester County inmate recaptured after escape from hospital

A strait-jacketed Chester County inmate escaped from custody late Monday afternoon, stealing a security guard’s gun and leading authorities on a 90-minute chase before he was recaptured.

21-year-old Bradley Bianco was being treated for unspecified injuries (officials say they cannot reveal why due to privacy laws) at Chester Regional Medical Center when he stole a security guard’s gun and fled the facility just after 4 p.m., according to Sheriff Richard Smith. Smith said no shots were ever fired, correcting an earlier report suggesting Bianco had shot the gun once.

Deputies called in a K-9 team from the York County Sheriff’s Office and helicopters from the State Law Enforcement Division to assist with the search. They cornered Bianco around 5:30 p.m. in some nearby woods.

Bianco was an inmate at the Chester County Detention facility on charges of domestic violence and violating parole.
