A Myrtle Beach doctor has agreed to a settlement in a federal health care fraud case.
Dr. James Vest and his clinics in Myrtle Beach were under investigation after a whistleblower lawsuit brought by one of his nurse practitioners accused him of Medicare and Tricare fraud.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says he allegedly over-billed government health plans for services his office provided, services he said he paid someone else to do–basically double dipping.
Dr. Vest has settled in the case and the whistleblower gets $65,000 plus her attorney’s fees for reporting the alleged fraud.
