A Chester County elementary school teacher was arrested Thursday after he officials said he admitted engaging in sexual acts with a child.
Authorities with the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) say 47-year-old Richard Jones of Great Falls was arrested Thursday. He is charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor, with a victim 11-14 years of age and a lewd act upon a child under 16.
According to an arrest warrant, the incidents happened on multiple occasions between July 11, 2007 and July 10, 2010 with a child who was under the age of 16. Officials say Jones confessed to performing the illegal acts on the child.
Jones is listed as a teacher at Great Falls Elementary School on the school’s website. SLED says the alleged crimes did not occur on school property. The agency said it investigated the case at the request of the Great Falls Police Department.
