The Capitol Hill-focused website Politico is calling it the sequester roadshow.
Senator Graham and Arizona Senator John McCain plan to cross the country to turn attention to Jan 2 defense cuts before the August recess. And they are going to the swing states in the election to get the White House to pay attention.
They will be joined by New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte as they conduct a series of town hall meetings in Florida, North Carolina, Virginia and New Hampshire.
But there are different solutions, none of them agreed upon yet, being debated back on Capitol Hill to try to hold off those cuts– $109 billion in the first year.
Graham says he does not support raising taxes, but would consider closing some tax loopholes and raising some federal fees to offset the defense cuts.
Military bases and facilities serve four areas of South Carolina: Beaufort, Charleston, Columbia and Sumter, and bring about $16 billion into the state’s economy,
