Saturday, 1st District Congressman Tim Scott saluted his district’s World war II veterans at the North Charleston Convention Center. Scott says he was hoping to get at least 100 veterans to show up, but says he was happy to see 359 vets turn out to get a certificate of appreciation and a veteran’s pin.
“What better opportunity, while we have so many of them still with us, to say ‘Thank-you.’ My mom tought me to give people roses while they are living, “ Scott says.
He says younger people “need to know what sacrifice looks like.”
