German manufacturer announces plans to move American HQ to Myrtle Beach

A German company announced Friday that it plans to relocate its North American headquarters to Myrtle Beach.

BauschLinnemann, a manufacturer of surfaces and edges for furniture makers, said it will invest $8 million to establish a consolidated production facility and its North American headquarters in Myrtle Beach. The company recently purchased Coastal Paper, one of its suppliers that was based in Horry County.

“South Carolina has the right business environment for us and has the skilled workforce we need,” Michael Phillips, CEO and president of BauschLinnemann North America, said in a statement. The company’s American headquarters is currently based in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The new plant will produce the company’s laminates and furniture coating treatments. BauschLinnemann says it hopes to create 55 new jobs when it opens the new 75,000 plant next summer. The campus has room to expand to 200,000 square feet.

South Carolina officials said the state will offer job development credits once the company reaches its hiring targets.
