An Eastover man accused of making a bomb threat to Eau Claire High School in Columbia pled guilty to making the calls. He also pled guilty to a child pornography charge.
21-year-old Sidney Myers appeared in federal court Wednesday. Federal prosecutors say Myers made two phone calls to Eau Claire High School on November 2, 2011 and claimed to have placed six bombs around the school.
When confronted with a phone number linking him to the threats, Myers later confessed to making the calls. During further investigation, FBI agents looked over his phone and found five videos of him having sex with his 16-year-old girlfriend. Because the phone was manufactured outside of South Carolina, prosecutors said it fell under interstate commerce and Myers was charged with a federal child pornography offense.
A sentencing date has not been set.
