Skeletal remains found by two hunters in Spartanburg County on Friday afternoon are that of a 20-year-old woman who was reported missing by her mother in May. Authorities say the remains, discovered in a wooded area off Highway 11 in the Fingerville community, have been identified as those of Crystal Lynn Freeman of Boiling Springs. Freeman had been missing since late April, though her disappearance had not been reported until 3½ weeks later. Authorities say her remains were found on land close to where Freeman’s ex-boyfriend lived, however they are s not calling him or anyone else a suspect at this time.
Special testing will be performed by a forensic anthropologist who has been called in to help the sheriff’s and coroner’s offices . Two hunters who were checking on a deer stand near the intersection of Peachtree Road found the remains.
