Hardeeville teen arrested for May double homicide

A Hardeeville teen has been arrested for a pair of murders that occurred nearly five months ago.

South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division agents have arrested 19-year-old Bernard Jenkins in connection with the May 11 double homicide of 25-year-old Desmond Brown of Hardeeville and 26-year-old Octavia Scott of Bluffton. Jenkins was charged Wednesday with two counts of murder.

Brown and Scott were found shot to death outside of an SUV on Purysburgh Road back in May. Both were shot in the head. Warrants released by SLED on Wednesday mentioned that Jenkins was last seen with the pair shortly before their deaths. However, the report does not give any information about where that was or who saw them. The warrant also said forensic DNA testing linked Jenkins to the scene.

The arrest was the result of a joint investigation conducted by the Hardeeville Police Department and SLED. The 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office will prosecute the case.
