A Fort Jackson soldier who reported missing thsi week has been located in Gary, Indiana, authorities say.
Sgt. Rob Larson was reported missing from his home in Calhoun County by his wife Pamela Larson last Saturday. This led Calhoun County deputies on a search through a wooded area near their home.
On Thursday, authorities found a surveillance video of Larson buying camping equipment last Saturday night at a Wal-Mart on Forest Drive in Columbia. On Tuesday, his charge card was used to purchase gas in Gary, Indiana.
It is believed that Larson heading toward his parents’ home in Minnesota. Deputies say he is driving a 2009 black hard-top Jeep Wrangler with SC purple heart license plate #PH5752.
Larson served two deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. His wife says he suffered brain damage in an IED explosion in Iraq in 2006.
After 30 days missing from his post at Fort Jackson, Larson may be declared AWOL.
