Newberry County deputies arrested three carjacking suspects over the weekend.
The search began late Saturday night after a trooper approached a disabled vehicle around mile marker 73 on Interstate 26. Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster said three men dressed in dark clothing ran from the vehicle and into the woods as the trooper approached. Investigators later discovered that the vehicle had been taken during a carjacking in Greenville County.
One suspect was quickly caught on Saturday night near the Fox Run community. At about 7 a.m. Sunday, the remaining two suspects were taken into custody after they were found hiding in the woods.
Greenville County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the carjacking, which it says occurred at a group home for juveniles. The suspects’ names have not been released at this time.
