New York firearms company relocating to Lowcountry

A New-York based company that imports firearms, ammunition and tactical equipment says it is relocating its headquarters to South Carolina.

American Tactical Imports, which is based in Rochester, New York, announced Monday that it will begin relocating its headquarters to Summerville. next month.

“This move to South Carolina will help ensure a solid foundation for our company,” Tony DiChario, president and founder of ATI, said in a statement. “The relocation process will be smooth and we have ensured that the process will not affect customer service, product distribution or any other segment of our business. The people of South Carolina have welcomed ATI with open arms and we are excited about making our new corporate home there.”

The South Carolina Department of Commerce said the $2.7 million investment would generate 117 new jobs in Dorchester County.

ATI says it also plans to move the company’s customer service operations and sales office to the Summerville site. The company imports weapons and other equipment from foreign manufacturers and distributes the weapons to sellers in the United States.

The South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits for the projects.
