The South Carolina Education Lottery is in no rush to find a new executive director. The chairman of the Lottery Commission has an idea of the person he wants to fill the job. Tim Madden says the ideal candidate “will bring a variety of skills to the table.” Madden says “It’s not necessary that the person who fills this job have lottery experience”, but he would like to hire someone who “has experience in managing a sales and marketing organization”.
Madden says he would prefer to hire someone “who is a South Carolinian or either has significant ties, or has spent a lot of time here”. Paula Harper Bethea became interim director after Ernie Passailaigue resigned last month to run the Arkansas Lottery system.
