(Update–the student died before noon Friday.)
A Horry County High School was put on lockdown this morning after a resource officer was stabbed and one student shot. Carolina Forest High School was locked down today. According to Teal Britton with Horry County Schools, an 11th grade student asked to speak with the school’s resource officer. Once the student entered the office, the student pulled out a knife, stabbed the officer, and the officer retaliated and fired his gun, shooting the student. Both the student and the officer were taken by ambulance to the Conway Hospital for treatment. No word on either one of their conditions.
SLED is participating in the investigation in the Horry County Police Department. No one is allowed on or off the school’s campus.
