After a group of Lexington County Republicans censured Senator Lindsey Graham, Congressman Joe Wilson, who represents that county in his district, says he stands by his colleague. Graham was reprimanded in a resolution led by members of the party that are South Carolina supporters of Texas Congressman Ron Paul.
Graham yesterday stood by his conservative record.
Congressman Wilson also praised Graham’s record: “We do have different factions within the Republican Party. I’m grateful for the growth of the party in South Carolina, but we also should look at the full voting record of our elected officials and there is no question that Lindsey Graham is a very strong conservative, a very outspoken conservative, a very effective conservative,” says Wilson.
The Lexington County Republican Party Executive Committee voted months ago to commend Wilson after he shouted at President Barack Obama during a joint session of Congress. Wilson was reprimanded by Congress.
