Business is booming in the City of North Charleston. As one of the top shopping destinations in the state, North Charleston is also gearing up to welcome thousands of new Boeing employees. Chairman of County Council Teddie Pryor was also just hired for a new position the city opened to help promote the city. While serving on county council, Pryor will also serve as Tourism Coordinator.
“We wanna bring folks in and tell them how good the city is and try to drive up more visitors and tourism coming into the city. You work with the hotel, motel industry as well. With Boeing coming, and Noisette coming, and the wind energy, North Charleston is a thriving place right now and we want to make sure the word gets out,” says Pryor.
Pryor says his new position will not conflict with his position on county council because he was hired for the job and not appointed. As Tourism Coordinator, Pryor explains what he will be doing: “It’s more or less advertising the City of North Charleston, bringing folks in, and the more folks you bring in the more revenue you generate,” says Pryor.
Pryor is ready to put his skills to work, as he pitches the city: “It think North Charleston is one of the greatest places you can come. We got a variety of things: We got our fine arts center, we have our coliseum, we have the Stingrays here, our weather is great, we have good restaurants in this area, we have the Hunley you can visit and see, we have our water park over there. It’s just a great place to be,” says Pryor.
Pryor says North Charleston has great incentives, such as easy access to dowtown, and free parking.
