Another candidate is running for the First District Congressional Seat, making the total number of candidates in the race rise to 13. First District Congressman Henry Brown announced his retirement early this year, and ever since, more and more candidates have announced their bid to fill his spot.
Mt. Pleasant Councilman Ken Glasson is the latest candidate to announce his run for the seat. Glasson has been a councilman since 2006 in Mt. Pleasant, near Charleston, and he serves as Chairman of the Bids and Purchases and the Fire Committees. Glasson marks the ninth Republican in the race, while there are three Democrats and one Independent. The first district stretches from North Charleston to the North Carolina state line.
