The president will visit Charlotte Friday.
US House Budget Committee Chairman John Spratt of the 5th Congressional District which borders close to Charlotte will be on Air Force One with President Obama when he arrives in the city shortly before noon today. They will tour Celgard manufacturing together. Following the tour, Chairman Spratt will be seated in the audience while the president leads a discussion on the economy with workers.
Tea party organizers said they expect protesters from areas around North Carolina to gather in southwest Charlotte near the plant.
Celgard makes porous membranes for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries used in notebook computers and other devices, and is a shining example of the city’s push for green development.
