Former Republican gubernatorial candidate Gresham Barrett has dropped a lawsuit against a group that ran political ads against him during his campaign.
Barrett’s Campaign Manager Luke Byers confirms that the congressman has dismissed the lawsuit against ReformSC, a group which supported Governor Mark Sanford’s agenda. The ads contained video of Nikki Haley, who beat Barrett in the primary runoff, calling her South Carolina’s new conservative leader. Barrett asserted that the organization coordinated with Haley’s campaign directly. A judge ordered the ads off the air, but the ReformSC chairman asserts that the ads were not in violation of the law as Barrett contended.
