Hundreds of new BMW jobs are open and hundreds stood in line in the heat last week to compete for them. This Wednesday, July 14 at the Tyger River Campus of Spartanburg Community college in Duncan, BMW will welcome another round of applicants for jobs pay starting at $15 an hour.
BMW is hiring for 500 new openings for its Greer plant which is nearing completion. The company is preparing for production of the next generation BMW X-3. People withstood the hot temperatures to stand in line, many having to wait six hours. MAU job services handed out bottled water to people in line.
Zack Brewster of MAU says he was not surprised with the turnout. He says, “As many jobs, and with a client like BMW with the pay rates the way they are, we kind of expected the masses to come out. So we are very thankful that they came.”
Wednesday, applicants can stop by the Tyger River Campus of Spartanburg Community college from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
