WCNC-Charlotte TV Reporter Rad Berky unexpectedly showed up to U.S. Senate Democratic candidate Alvin Greene’s Manning home last weekend.
We popped up and he came to the door. He made it clear he did not want to do the interview, he did answer the one question when I asked him: ‘Are you gonna stay in the race?’ and he said: ‘I am.’ Then he said: ‘I don’t want to talk and you can go now.’ When we were turning to leave, his brother came up and clearly did want to talk. So, when we were talking to him, that’s when you heard Alvin howling from his front door while we were talking to his brother.
Berky says he has had several other encounters with Greene, but none quite like this one.
I was stunned. We’ve talked a couple of times on the phone and he has always seemed awkward with the media. The only thing I can chalk it up to was what his brother was trying to tell me and that is that he was so shaken by the indictment. Remember, I don’t think Alvin ever believed that it was ever gonna go this far. Alvin thought he should have gotten pre-trial diversion.
Greene has been indicted on charges of showing online obscenity to a University of South Carolina student. The candidate so far remains in the race.
