U.S. House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn of South Carolina says he definitely will not vote for Alvin Greene, that it would be an insult to his three daughters. Greene is the Democratic Party’s nominee for U.S. Senate. He has been indicted on obscenity charges. Authorities say he showed pornographic images to a female student at the University of South Carolina.
Clyburn, himself a democrat, responds to a question about Greene during a general press conference in his Columbia office Wednesday. South Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Carol Fowler has asked Greene to withdraw from the race saying that if he were elected, that he would be suspended from office if he were found guilty of the charges he faces. Clyburn reiterates that.
