A suspect is in custody for the murders of two sisters found shot to death inside a Williamsburg County residence on Monday. Found dead in their Kingstree home were Naomi Johnson, age 65, and her 73 year old sister, Thelma Haddock.
Sheriff Michael Johnson said deputies arrested Joseph Jermaine Brand, age 32 of Williamsburg County based on a tip from a relative.
We got a phone call from a relative of his that found the suspect stating that he was the subject at the residence at the time he came there.
It appears that the women may have known the suspect.
They were familiar with him. He was actually maybe a resident of Williamsburg County for about two, three months.
The sisters’ deaths mark the first homicides in Williamsburg County and Sheriff Johnson says residents in the community should feel relatively safe.
This is the first murder we’ve had in Williamsburg County in 2010, and they should feel safe in their homes, take the necessary precautions to protect theirselves and their families in their homes.
The suspect remains in jail awaiting a bond hearing..
