A well-established employer in Orangeburg County has announced the expansion of its current facility.
Husqvarna North America is planning to invest $105 million to expand its operations in Orangeburg County. Tuesday’s announcement says the company will make its investment in two phases. The first phase, a $30 million investment is scheduled to be completed by December 31, 2013. The second phase is due to be completed the end of 2024 and will be a $75 million investment.
The Orangeburg County facility currently produces riding garden tractors, tillers and similar products. The expansion will allow the plant to assemble new products including the company’s zero-turning radius lawn mowers.
U.S. Rep. James Clyburn said that officials in Orangeburg County have worked hard to attract new investments and this announcement is an indication that their efforts are paying off.
Husqvarna is the largest employer in Orangeburg County and has been in operation there since the early 1970’s.
