The office of Lt. Gov. Aundre Bauer is sponsoring a USC versus Clemson Rivalry Food Drive all this week. Non perishable food items are being collected each day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the intersection of Senate and Sumter Streets which is adjacent the Statehouse.
Bauer says that during this time when others celebrate and give thanks, he says it’s an opportunity to help those who are less fortunate.
So, we’re having a can drive trying to get people to come out and donate canned food items to their favorite team. They can donate it on behalf of Carolina or Clemson and we’ll see which team can raise more, and you get a point on every can you deliver.
Each night the food will be weighed and the school with the most donations will be recorded. The winner will be announced during the USC versus Clemson football game. Items collected from USC fans will be donated to a food bank in the Midlands, and the food collected from Clemson fans will be donated to a food bank in the upstate.
Another important rivalry is the USC versus Clemson Blood Drive being held today through Friday. USC and Clemson fans are asked to roll up their sleeves to donate blood to the American Red Cross on behalf of their team, and the school with the most donations wins the contest.
