Now that he has been formally voted by U.S House Democrats to the newly created position of Assistant Leader, Sixth District Congressman Jim Clyburn says he is ready to roll up his sleeves and work with the new majority GOP in the 112th Congress. Clyburn is challenging his colleagues on the other side of the aisle to work for the American people and stop the gridlock associated with partisan politics.
I would hope that the new majority in the House of Representatives will work with this President and help us get this country moving again. And stop all this foolishness saying that your first order of business is to make sure this man does not get re-elected. That’s not going to do anybody any good. What we need to do is think what’s best for the country and forget about the politics until next election season.
After weathering the challenge of a number of Democrats seeking a change , California Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi was voted in as Minority Leader. Maryland Representative Steny Hoyer will serve as Minority Whip.
