Two South Carolina teens have been arrested after leading police on a chase through two counties.
The chase began around 1:45 am last Tuesday when a trooper with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said he spotted a car speeding over 100 miles per hour on Pawley’s Island.
The Sun News reports that the chase continued into Surfside Beach with patrol cars from Surfside Beach and Horry County joining in on the pursuit. The troopers followed the teens into a neighborhood, when the suspects jumped from their moving car and swam across a small pond, making their escape. Meanwhile, the car had hit a tree and burst into flames, sparking a brush fire.
After a two-day investigation, Surfside Beach police said they were able to identify and arrest the two teens who are now facing charges in the theft of two vehicles, two mo-peds and a golf cart. The suspects’ names are being withheld due to their age.
