The Lexington Police Department and authorities in the Lowcountry are looking for a missing woman who was involved in a hit and run accident Tuesday night in Dorchester County. Police says 48-year-old Sherry Ann Barfield left the scene of the accident after she hit another car while traveling on Charleston Highway 26 near mile marker 181.
Lexington Police Lieutenant Matt Davis says Barfield is 5′ 6″ 230 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes, and adds, “We can confirm that she was driving the car. Witnesses down in Dorchester state that a white female was driving the car at the time of the accident. So far authorities have been unable to locate Barfield or her car.”
The car is a 1997 bluish green Honda Accord with license plate number BIS 115.
According to authorities at the scene, the air bags of Barfield’s Honda Accord were deployed, the vehicle’s front bumper is missing and the windshield is cracked. Davis says Barfield’s family is especially worried because she is on medication. Davis says persons with information on the whereabouts of Sherry Ann Barfield should call the Lexington Police Department.
