Congressman Joe Wilson is encouraging Speaker Nancy Pelosi to immediately hold a vote on extending the adoption tax credit.
Wilson, who himself is an adoptive father, sent a letter to Speaker Pelosi urging an immediate vote on the adoption tax credit which could be extended by Congress. Wilson is in favor of a full extension of all the tax cuts included in the 2001 and 2003 legislation, especially the adoption tax credit. In a statement, Wilson says when it comes to the adoption process, lawmakers should work to advance, not hinder the dreams of a family. He also noted that the adoption process can be extremely expensive which according to him often prices out hardworking individuals and couples.
The legislation will make permanent the $10,000 child adoption tax credit that is currently set to expire on December 31.
