The Pickens County mother and maternal grandmother of two toddlers reported kidnapped in a false Amber Alert scheme on December 22 have been charged in the case.
The children’s mother, 20-year-old Keyly Wade is charged with four counts of conspiring to file a false police report of kinapping and burglary and two counts of unlawful neglect of a child. The grandmother, 47-year-old Belinda Wade, is charged with four counts of conspiracy to file a false police report.
The women were arrested on December 29. A police officer in Bazetta, Ohio notified Pickens County authorities on December 23 of the women’s whereabouts when he detained the women during a routine traffic stop. Pickens County Assitant Sheriff Tim Morgan says taking the children out of state was in violation of a Department of Social Services Safety Plan.
The women have been released on bond.
Morgan says the children’s aunt, Lisa Jordan, has also been charged in the case. She told police on the morning of December 22 that her one- and two-year-old nieces had been taken from her home and her vehicle had been stolen. Jordan’s report actually launced the statewide Amber Alert search for the children.
