The 2011 legislative session is getting ready to begin, and according to House Speaker Bobby Harrell the agenda is packed with items ready to be tackled.
This is a very ambitious legislative agenda we have announced today. Responding to the issues South Carolinians told us that were important to them, our aim is to create jobs, reform government, and improve the lives of our state citizens.
In the election, 76 seats in the General Assembly were turned over to House Republicans. This marks the largest conservative majority in South Carolina since 1994. Harrell says he’s ready to get going–
Strengthening our economy, promoting responsible government and improving education are all issues the House Republican Caucus has been a leader in supporting. Our newest, largest-ever Republican Majority will allow us to tackle these major issues and accomplish even more this session.
The session begins January 11. Governor-elect Nikki Haley is sworn in on January 12.
